QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES- The Philippine Statistics Authority Provincial Office II (covering Quezon City and City of Marikina) attended the October 2022 CES Task Force Training on 27 September 2022 at the PSA-NCR Regional Office, while the Provincial training was held on 28-29 September at 8th floor Edsa Grand Residences, 75 Corregidor St., cor EDSA, Brgy. Ramon Magsaysay, Quezon City.

The October 2022 Consumer Expectation Survey (CES) is to be undertaken, in collaboration with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), in 56 provinces representing all regions except Bangsamoro Administrative Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The Consumer Expectations Survey (CES) is a household-based survey on the consumers’ assessment of their family income, financial situation, and the economic condition of the country. It is administered on a sample basis at the household level drawn through a stratified multi-stage random sampling with a total sample of about 5,000 households. The CES is a complementary survey to the Business Expectation Survey (BES) of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

The survey’s objectives are to provide a quick and regular assessment of the financial condition of consumers and economic condition of the country at present and in the near future, from the consumers own viewpoints; generate forecasts in the direction of the country’s economic activity based on consumers outlook in the current quarter, next quarter and the next 12 months; provide quick and regular assessment of consumers’ confidence in terms of their income and expenditures as well as their outlook on key economic indicators closely monitored by the BSP such as inflation, exchange rate and interest rates; provide quick and regular assessment of the outstanding debt situation of the household head, their spouse/ partner, their children and other family members at present.

The PSA NCR PO II has a total 397 sample households in Quezon City and 97 sample households in the City of Marikina. To increase their understanding and strengthen their toolkit for this PSA project, a total of 11 statistical researchers and 3 personnel involved received training on the concepts and definitions related to the CES forms. On the final day of training, trainers observed them in a mock interview to evaluate their preparation for the survey using CAPI and PAPI.

The enumeration will be conducted on 01 October to 13 October 2022.
