Quezon City, Philippines – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has released the inflation rate and Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for the National Capital Region (NCR) for January 2025. The data reveals key economic indicators that provide insights into the cost of living for the region's residents and businesses.
Inflation Rate
In January 2025, the National Capital Region recorded an inflation rate of 2.8 percent, marking a slowdown from the 3.1 percent inflation rate recorded in December 2024. This decrease reflects a slower rise in the prices of commonly consumed goods and services, suggesting a moderation in inflationary pressures and a positive shift in consumers' purchasing conditions.
The primary drivers of the inflation rate for this period include decrease in the prices of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, followed by the index of restaurants and accommodation services and personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services.
Consumer Price Index (CPI)
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for NCR in January 2025 stood at 124.9, representing a rise in the overall cost of a fixed basket of goods and services compared to the same period in the previous year.
