Total number of approved building permits down by 14.8 percent

The total number of approved building permits in the City of Mandaluyong posted a decrease from 115 in the first quarter of 2018 to 98 in the first quarter of 2019 that translates to 14.8 percent. On the other hand, for the National Capital Region, the total approved building permits was higher by 284 projects or 9.8 percent in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the same quarter in the previous year.

 

The total number of approved permits for Residential type of buildings for the City of Mandaluyong decreased by 4.5 percent while the Non-Residential type increased by 33.3 percent during the first quarter of 2019 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The approved building permits for Alterations and Repair went down by 19.3 percent from 88 during the first quarter of 2018 to 71 of the same quarter of 2019.

Figure 1 shows the comparison in the number of approved building permits by type of building for the City of Mandaluyong during the first quarter of 2019.

 

Value of building construction decreases

The total value of construction plummeted in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the same quarter of 2018 with 95.1 percent or equivalent to Php 5,082 million. The value for Residential construction

registered the highest decrease with 97.9 percent. Similarly, the value of Additions decreased by 53.4 percent.

 

Apartment-type of Residential building obtains the highest number and the biggest value of construction.

Twenty-one approved applications for Residential building were registered amounting to Php 108.1 million during the first quarter of 2019. Among the types of Residential building, Apartmenttype with eleven approved applications had the most number of contribution of 52.4 percent. Likewise, the value of construction for Apartment-type got the biggest share to the gross value with 67.6 percent amounting to 73.1 million.

 

Only Commercial type of Non-Residential building were recorded for the first quarter of 2019.

Four approved building permits with a total of Php 41.7 million for Non-Residential building were constructed during the first quarter of 2019. Is is under Commercial type of building construction. For this quarter, no permits were listed for Industrial, Institutional, and Other types of Non-Residential building.

The total number of approved building permits in the City of Manila decreased from 131 in the fourth quarter of 2022 to 109 in the same quarter of 2023 that translates to 16.8 percent.
