06 March 2025 – City of Makati. In the observance of the Fire Protection Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority NCR Provincial Statistical Office III (PSA NCR PSO III) in partnership with Bureau of Fire Protection NCR Makati City, conducted a lecture/seminar and drill on fire safety procedure and proper use of fire extinguisher.

Resource Speakers Fire Officer 1 (FO1) Eduard Joseph F. Luchavez of Guadalupe Fire Department and Fire Officer 2 (FO2) Limuel M. Macapulay of Palanan Fire Department, along with PSA NCR PSO III employees were warmly welcomed by Mr. Narciso H. Dino, (Supervising Statistical Specialist) Officer-In-charge.

FO1 Eduard Jospeh F. Luchavez, with his seven years of experience, showed his proficiency in the field of his expertise, through the discussed topic on understanding the nature and characteristics of fire, and top 3 causes of fire incidents in Makati. The lecture was lively, and participants were captivated when demo videos of fire brigades in action, actual fire duration from ignition to smoldering, and various fire controls/suppression were presented.

FO2 Limuel M. Macapulay on the other hand, with his nine years of experience on firefighting, tackled the second part of the lecture discussing the topic of Fire Brigades Duties and Responsibilities, types of fire extinguisher, proper handling, visual checking, storage, and the finale of actual use of the fire extinguisher with volunteer PSA NCR III employees. With his proper instructions and guidance, no employees were harmed during the actual testing of the fire extinguisher.

Rounding up the lecture/seminar were encouragement from Mr. Joel C. Pertez, Senior Statistical Specialist, through his closing remarks, for the participants to actively apply what they learned not only in the office, but also to their homes as well.

The PSA NCR PSO III formally thanked FO1 Luchavez and FO2 Macapulay by awarding them a Certificate of Appreciation for sharing their knowledge and for accepting the call from the agency to provide the correct information on fire safety and prevention.
