Based on the data released on 20 December 2024, the National Capital Region (NCR) accounted for 180,524 registered live births representing 12.5 percent of the total 1,448,522 live births in the country in 2023.
In 2023, the City of Pasig recorded 13,118 registered live births, which accounted for 7.3 percent of the total 180,524 live births in the National Capital Region. This represented a 7.4 percent increase from the 12,218 live births recorded in 2022. On average, the city registered 1,093 live births per month or approximately 36 live births per day.

Most live births are attended by Health Professionals
Out of the 13,118 total registered live births recorded in the City of Pasig in 2023, 12,584 were attended by health professionals, which accounted for 95.9 percent of all live birth deliveries. Traditional birth attendants followed, assisting in 478 live births, which made up 3.6 percent of the total. Meanwhile, 56 live births were attended by other attendants, representing 0.4 percent of all live birth deliveries.

Majority of live births take place in Health Facilities
Of the total 12,463 live births registered in the City of Pasig in 2023, 95.0 percent took place in health facilities. In comparison, only 617 registered live births, or 4.7 percent of live birth deliveries occurred at home, while 38 live births, or 0.3 percent were delivered in other locations.

The peak age of mothers at childbirth is 25-29 years old
In 2023, mothers aged 25 to 29 recorded the highest number of live births, totaling 3,651, which represented a 9.9 percent increase compared to the previous year. This was followed by mothers aged 30 to 34 with 3,262 live births, reflecting a 5.7 percent rise. The third highest group was mothers aged 20 to 24, with 2,583 live births, representing a 2.7 percent increase.
Live births among younger mothers showed an increasing trend as those aged 15 to 19 registered 921 live births, increasing by 7.7 percent, and live births of mothers under 15 years old increased by 20.0 percent from 25 in 2022 to 30 in 2023. Mothers in the 40 to 44 and 45 to 49 age groups also saw increased live births. The 40 to 44 age group showed a 6.2 percent rise, with live births growing from 616 in 2022 to 654 in 2023. Similarly, mothers in the 45 to 49 age group saw a 7.3 percent increase, with live births rising from 55 in 2022 to 59 in 2023. However, live births among mothers aged 50 and older significantly declined by 57.1 percent, dropping from 7 in 2022 to 3 in 2023. Additionally, live births with unstated maternal age decreased by 16.7 percent, from 6 in 2022 to 5 in 2023.

Explanatory Note
Data on births presented in this release were obtained from the timely and late registered births at the Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrars all throughout the country and submitted to the Office of the Civil Registrar General through the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Provincial Statistical Offices (PSOs). The information presented includes births that occurred from January to December 2023 based on data files received by the PSA - Civil Registration Service (CRS) from the PSOs and processed as of 31 August 2024. Figures presented herein are not adjusted for under registration. This release includes births of Filipinos whose usual residence is abroad and births of foreign nationals that occurred in the country during the reference period. Births of Filipinos abroad which were reported to the Philippine Foreign Service Posts are presented in a separate report.
Vital Statistics are derived from information obtained at the time when the occurrences of vital events and their characteristics are inscribed in a civil register. Vital acts and events are birth, deaths and marriages, and all such events that have something to do with an individual's entrance and departure from life together with the changes in civil status that may occur to a person during his lifetime. Recording of these events in the civil register is known as vital or civil registration and the resulting documents are vital records.
Counts on Births include individuals who are born in the Philippines whose usual residence is in a foreign country.
Live Birth is a complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of a product of conception, irrespective of the duration of the pregnancy, which after such separation, breathes or shows any other evidence of life, such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, whether or not the umbilical cord has been cut or placenta is attached; each product of such birth is considered live born.
