Based from the preliminary data as of 30 June 2024, the total number of registered marriages in the National Capital Region (NCR) reached 51,492 or 13.1% share from the total registered marriages in the country. The City of Pasig recorded 2,282 marriages from January to December 2023 with 4.4% share from the total number of marriages in the National Capital Region (NCR). On the average, a total of 190 marriage ceremonies were registered monthly or average of 6 couples reported daily.
Quezon City reported the highest number of registered marriages with 15,830 (30.7%) while the Municipality of Pateros recorded the lowest number with 207 (0.4%) marriages. Refer to Figure 1 below.
Registered marriages increases in 2023
The total number of registered marriages in the City of Pasig posted an increase of 24.5% from 1,513 in 2021 to 1,883 in 2022. Another increase of 21.2% was recorded from 2022 to 2023 with a total of 2,282 registered marriages.
Table 2 presents the highest and lowest number of registered marriages which occurred from 2021 to 2023. The lowest number of marriages was recorded in August 2021 in the City of Pasig with 20 wedding ceremonies or 1.3% share from the total registered marriages on that year.
For the past 3 years, December 2022 recorded the highest number of couples who got married in the City of Pasig with a total of 242 marriage ceremonies or 12.9% share from the total number of registered marriages that year.
For the year 2023, June recorded the highest number of marriages in the City of Pasig, with a total of 224 ceremonies, accounting for 9.8% of the year's total registered marriages. In contrast, February had the lowest number, with 162 ceremonies, representing 7.1% of the total.
Explanatory Notes
The data on the number of marriages, and deaths presented were obtained from the vital events registered, either timely or belatedly, at the appropriate Office of the City/Municipal Civil Registrar throughout the country and subsequently submitted for encoding to the Office of the Civil Registrar General through the Provincial Statistical Offices (PSOs) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) https://psa.gov.ph/statistics/vital-statistics. The information presented includes vital events that occurred from January to December 2023 based on data files received by the PSA - Civil Registration Service (CRS) from the PSOs and has undergone initial processing as of 30 June 2024. Thus, the figures presented herein are still provisional and may differ from the final count. (1) The vital events of Filipinos abroad are not yet included in this release, but Filipinos whose usual residence is abroad and foreign nationals with vital events occurring in the country during the reference period were included in this report.
Vital Statistics are derived from information obtained at the time when the occurrences of vital events and their characteristics are inscribed in a civil register. Vital acts and events are the birth, deaths and marriages, and all such events that have something to do with an individual's entrance and departure from life together with the changes in civil status that may occur to a person during his lifetime. Recording of these events in the civil register is known as vital or civil registration and the resulting documents are vital records.
Marriage is a special contract of permanent union between a man and woman entered into in accordance with law for the establishment of conjugal and family life.
Place of Occurrence refers to the place where the vital event took place.
Daily Average refers to the arithmetic mean of marriage occurrences per day.
Monthly Average refers to the arithmetic mean of marriage occurrences per month.
