26 April 2024—CITY OF MARIKINA, PHILIPPINES. The Philippine Statistics Authority-National Capital Region Provincial Statistical Office II (PSA-NCR PSO II) and the City Government of Marikina met the members of the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN)-Community- Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Coordinating Board on Friday at Marikina City Hall.

Other agencies, such as the Department of Education (DepEd)-Marikina and Marikina Police, were present in the meeting.

Marikina City Administrator Janet S. Obispo presided over the meeting, which tackled the objectives, scope and coverage, timetable of activities, and assistance that each board member will provide.

Dr. Cynthia Ayles, Head of DepEd-Marikina, has shown her support for the census activity. She pledged to issue a memorandum granting the PSA the right to use the classrooms as training venues during the semester break.

In February, news flashed over social media about President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., ordered PSA to conduct a census through the CBMS to update the list of Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program, or 4Ps, beneficiaries.

"Pagkakataon na na magiging maganda ang coverage ng CBMS dahil partner na po n’ya si POPCEN. Ang POPCEN ay gagawin din this year para maupdate ang ating population count," said PSA-NCR PSO II Head Helen L. Adolacion.

The enumeration of 2024 POPCEN-CBMS for households will commence in July until September 2024.
