Awarding of COLB at Barangay Pansol
08 January 2024 – BARANGAY PANSOL, QUEZON CITY. Ten Quezon City residents received their first-ever copy of Certificate of Live Birth through the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Mr. Apolinar F. Oblea, Chief Statistical Specialist, and Ms. Faith F. Rocamora, Statistical Specialist II and CRU/PhilSys Unit Head, of PSA-National Capital Region Provincial Statistical Office II, together with District III Councilor Hon. Albert Alvin “Chuckie” L. Antonio and Barangay Chairman Joseph P. Mahusay led the awarding ceremony.
Mr. Oblea said in his welcome remarks that birth certificates are vital because it is one of the primary requirements in school applications, passport and job applications, among others. The awarding of printed copy of the COLBs in SECPA will improve the quality of life of the beneficiaries.
One of the oldest BRAP beneficiaries, aged 62, said that it will help her to easily access the social services of the government and private institutions.
The successful awarding of the COLBs is an initial result of the campaign to improve the civil registration aligned with the goals of the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Decade for 2015–2024.
In 2023, more than 100 barangays were visited by Birth Registration Agents of BRAP, formerly known as PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP), through the active invitation from the Quezon City Civil Registry Department for Social Services Caravan.
The project aims to help 18,000 individuals to register their births belonging in the marginalized sector in the country.
