QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES –The Philippine Statistics Authority Provincial Office II (covering Quezon City and City of Marikina) conducted the third level training for the 2023 Geo-enabled Master Sample: Primary and Secondary Sampling Unit Field Validation last September 27 to October 01, 2022. The venue for the said training was at the PSA NCR PO II office located at 8th floor EDSA Grand Residences Bldg. #75 Corregidor St., cor. EDSA, Barangay Ramon Magsaysay Quezon City.

The 2023 Geo-enabled Master Sample: Primary and Secondary Sampling Unit Field Validation is another important statistical undertaking conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) as part of the development of its own geo-enabled master sample frame. This activity aims to finalize the 2023 Geo-enabled Master Sample: PSU frame for all sampling domains - provinces and highly urbanized cities (HUCs), including the 63 barangays (BARMM63) from North Cotabato that is now a part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The field validation aims to verify the accessibility within PSUs formed from merging Enumeration Areas (EAs)/ Barangays; ensure inclusion of all listed Secondary Sampling Units (SSUs) within the bounds of its corresponding PSU; and validate accuracy of integrated statistical and geospatial data. The 2023 Geo-enabled Master Sample will have 118 sampling domains covering provinces and HUCs throughout the country, composed of 81 provinces, 33 highly urbanized cities (including the 16 cities of the National Capital Region), 4 special areas (Pateros, City of Isabela, Cotabato City, and BARMM63).

The result of the field operations is valuable in the finalization of the PSU frame of the 2023 Geo-enable Master Sample prior to the last phases of the master sample design, i.e., implicit stratification and replicate formation.

The 2023 GeoMS: PSU and SSU Field Validation will start from the 19th of September to the 5th of November 2022, including Saturdays and holidays. The conduct of trainings for the 2023 GeoMS: PSU and SSU Field Validation is a requirement for the uniform cascading of concepts and procedures to be implemented during the field validation of PSUs and SSUs. Through these trainings, all personnel involved, especially the Map Data Processors (MDPs), Map Data Verifiers (MDVs), and Map Data Reviewers (MDRs), will be able to effectively perform their respective roles during the conduct of this field validation activity, particularly on explaining the basic concepts of the activity to inquisitive respondents.
