QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES –The Philippine Statistics Authority Provincial Office II (covering Quezon City and City of Marikina) in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is conducting its first-ever household survey on ICT focusing on women and girls of our country which is called the Women and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Development Index (WIDI) Survey.

The WIDI Survey aims to gather baseline data on women and girls’ ICT access, use, and skills. This will be an important undertaking for the government to formulate appropriate evidence-based policies and programs to help women and girls in the productive and meaningful use of ICTs.

The conduct of the WIDI Survey takes on major data items that will be gathered such as demographic characteristics, ICT Access, ICT Use, ICT Skills, Cyber Security, Data Privacy, Online Safety; and Digital Economy/e-commerce. PSA will utilize android tablets for data collection as this serves as an IT-driven tool to significantly reduce the time for data processing.

The PSA NCR PO II has a total of 397 sample households in Quezon City and 390 sample households in the City of Marikina. A total of 1 Provincial Focal Person, 2 Team Supervisors, and 4 Statistical Researchers were trained on the concepts and definitions of the WIDI Survey.

In light of this, PSA NCR PO II encourages everyone, most especially the selected sample households to support and cooperate in the conduct of this PSA undertaking. Rest assured that individual data provided by the respondents shall be kept strictly confidential under Section 26 of Republic Act 10625, which stipulates that individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses of the PSA shall be considered privileged communication and as such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.
