The Philippine Statistics Authority-National Capital Region Provincial Statistical Office I (PSA-NCR PSO I) will conduct the 2023 Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI) and the 2023 Input-Output Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (IOSPBI) as a rider survey starting on 06 May 2024.

The Census of Philippine Business and Industry (CPBI) is one of the three national censuses being conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) per Republic Act 10625 and a designated statistical activity as per Executive Order No. 352, series of 1996. This will encompass all formal and informal establishments in the country engaged in economic activities classified under the 2009 Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC), with some exceptions. Moreover, it will collect and generate information on the levels, structure, performance and trends of economic activities of the establishments in the economy for the year 2023. Also, it will serve as benchmark information for the over-all revision and rebasing to 2023 of the National Accounts.

Meanwhile, the purpose of the 2023 IOSPBI is to collect detailed information on the revenue, expense, and inventories by product of businesses and industries covered in the 2023 CPBI to build the input structure and to construct the distribution of output required in the compilation of the 2023 Supply and Use Table (SUT) and 2023 I-O Table.

In connection with this, the PSA-NCR PSO I encourages the sample establishments to participate in the said surveys by providing truthful information to the Statistical Researchers (SRs) who will visit them as the data that will be gathered will be used by policy makers, national and local government units in the formulation and monitoring of policies and plans based on the economy wide and sub-national statistics; and, in formulating strategies and plans for the national and regional economic development.

Furthermore, all data obtained shall be held strictly confidential, and will not be used for taxation, investigation or law enforcement purposes as stipulated in Section 26 of RA 10625 and Section 8 of RA 10173.

The office has a total sample of 4,218 establishments to be enumerated for the 2023 CPBI wherein 831 were also samples of the 2023 IOSPBI.
