The Philippine Statistics Authority-National Capital Region Provincial Statistical Office I (PSA-NCR PSO I) will conduct the Women and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Development Index (WIDI) Survey on January 31 to February 28, 2022, in the cities of Manila, Mandaluyong, and San Juan.

The WIDI Survey is the first national survey on ICT focusing on women and girls in the country. The survey will be implemented by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in coordination with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The survey aims to gather baseline data on women and girls ICT access, use and skills. The data that will be gathered will be an important input in the formulation of appropriate ICT-based policies and programs to help women and girls in the productive use of ICT’s. Furthermore, it is believed that this survey will provide an added dimension for women’s participation in the Digital Economy by providing data on workforce participation in employment, livelihood and entrepreneurship using ICT’s and online digital platforms.

The NCR-PSO I has a total of 954 sample households – 404 in the City of Manila, 395 in the City of Mandaluyong, and 155 in the City of San Juan. The office hired 5 Statistical Researchers who will conduct the interviews on the sample households using tablets through the Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) application.

In line with this, the PSA enjoins the public to support the WIDI survey by providing the required information to authorized Statistical Researchers who will visit the sample households and individuals to conduct the personal interviews. The respondents are mandated to provide truthful and absolute information to the Statistical Researchers. PSA personnel are also expected to observe the minimum public health standards and protocols to ensure the safety of everyone against the COVID-19 virus.
