23 April 2024 – Pasay City. The Philippine Statistics Authority National Capital Region – Provincial Statistical Office V (PSA NCR – PSO V) personnel represented by the Supervising Statistical Specialist (SuSS), Ms. Judie Rhisa G. Baluran together with Senior Statistical Specialist (SrSS), Mr. Joemar P. Jerez and Statistical Specialist II, Ms. Elsie F. Galanta, conducted a field visit in the City of Las Piñas earlier today, 23 April 2024, for the preparation of the training on the adoption of Philippine Standard Industrial Classification (PSIC) and the conduct of the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) – Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) in the city.

The field visit was primarily intended to the two major offices of the city, namely: the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) and the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO). In which, the PSA NCR-PSO V personnel visited first the BPLO wherein the discussions centered on the following topics: the objectives, considerations, preparations, purpose and the schedules of the training on PSIC in the city. With these, the BPLO-Las Piñas Acting Chief, Mr. Jesus Wilfredo D. Gaerlan, expressed his gratitude for the visit conducted by the PSA NCR – PSO V to their office. Accordingly, the training will be pivotal in understanding, adoption, and implementation of PSIC within the city for the production of comparable statistics at the national and local levels.

Afterwards, a separate meeting happened between PSA NCR V personnel and the staff of CPDO-Las Piñas City led by their Department Head, Engr. Leonida A. Lagrisola. During  the meeting, SrSS Jerez provided updates for the conduct of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS in the city. 

As such, it has been discussed in the meeting the specific details on the proposed schedules and time table as well as the possible dates for the convening of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS Coordinating Board in the city. Thereafter, on the part of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Las Piñas City, Engr.Lagrisola mentioned that they will wait for the official and final communications from the PSA as to the schedule to convene the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS Coordinating Board in the city so they may also start on their end.

Hence, the field visit ended with a fruitful outcome which was aligned to the main purpose and objectives of the activity. Thus, the office also ensures to continuously conducts relevant and on-tract activities for equitable development towards uplifting the quality of statistical services being implemented.
