Registered marriages up by 33 percent in 2022

A total of 54,629 marriages were registered in the National Capital Region (NCR), an increase of 33.2 percent from the total marriages of 41,025 in 2021. This increase may have been brought about by the continued easing of quarantine measures due to the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. However, there was a 4.4 percent decrease in the number of registered marriages in the past ten years from 57,121 in 2013 to 54,629 in 2022. (Figure 1 and Tables 1 and 3)

Concurrently, the crude marriage rate (CMR)1 increased to 3.9 or 4 marriages per thousand population from 3 marriages per thousand population in 2021. On average, a total of 150 marriages were solemnized daily.
