68 births daily in the third quarter of 2021

The number of babies born in the Philippines for the third quarter of 2021 reached to 366,070. The National Capital Region (NCR) contributed 12.3 percent or 45,014 of this number. Meanwhile, 6,248 babies, or 13.9 percent of the babies born in NCR for this quarter were from the City of Manila. The figure exhibited a 14.3 percent decrease compared to 7,291 births registered in the city in the same period of 2020.

 

The month of September has been recorded with the greatest number of birth occurrences with 2,173 or 34.8 percent of the total number of babies born in Manila for the third quarter. However, this was a decrease of 16.9 percent from the registered births in the same month of the previous year.  

 

This was followed by August with 2,094 or 33.5 percent and lower than the previous year by 12.5 percent. Moreover, July has been recorded with the least number of registered births with 1,981 or 31.7 percent and lower than the previous year by 13.2 percent.

On a monthly average, 2,083 babies were born in Manila for the third quarter of 2021. Furthermore, September and August exceeded this number by 4.3 percent and 0.5 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, 68 babies were born on a daily average.

 

July recorded the greatest number of marriages

In the third quarter of 2021, the number of marriages conducted in the Philippines reached to 67,089. NCR contributed 10.1 percent of this number or 6,804. Moreover, 1,425 marriages took place in the City of Manila which was 20.9 percent of the total marriages done in NCR. This was also higher by 23.7 percent compared to 1,152 which has been recorded in the same period of its preceding year.

 

July has been recorded with the highest number of marriages done in the city for the third quarter of 2021 with 598 marriages or 41.9 percent of the total number of marriages done in the city for the same period. This is higher than the previous year by 43.1 percent.

 

This was immediately followed by the month of September with 511 marriages or 35.9 percent, higher than the previous year by 12.3 percent. Meanwhile, August had 316 or 22.2 percent which is also higher than the previous year by 13.3 percent.

Furthermore, on a monthly average, 475 pairs tied the knot in the City of Manila for the third quarter of 2021. However, July and September were higher than this number by 25.9 percent and 7.6 percent, respectively. In contrast, August was lower than the monthly average by 33.5 percent. Meanwhile, 15 couples exchanged vows daily in the city for the same quarter.

 

4.9 percent increase in the number of registered deaths

The number of registered deaths in the Philippines for the third quarter of 2021 reached to 285,852. From this figure, 10.9 percent or 31,196 was from NCR. Meanwhile, the City of Manila recorded 4,194 deaths or 13.4 percent of the total number of registered deaths in NCR. This was an increase of 4.8 percent from 4,000 which was recorded in the same city on the same period of the previous year.

 

The highest number of registered deaths occurred in September with 1,548 or 36.9 percent of the total number of recorded deaths in Manila. This was an increase of 40.7 percent from 1,100 which was recorded in the same period from its preceding year.

 

The month of August had 1,504 deaths or 35.9 percent and higher than the previous year by 2.6 percent. On the other hand, 1,142 deaths were recorded in the month of July which was lower than the previous year by 20.4 percent.

The number of registered deaths in the City of Manila for the third quarter of 2021 corresponds to an average of 1,398 deaths monthly or 46 deaths per day. Furthermore, September and August recorded numbers that were higher than the monthly average by 10.7 percent and 7.6 percent, respectively. However, the month of July was lower than the monthly average by 18.3 percent.
