Recorded live births decrease for the first quarter of 2024
The number of registered births in the City of San Juan for the first quarter of 2024 decreased compared to the same period in 2023. A total of 251 births were registered from January to March 2024, which is 63 fewer than the 314 recorded in the first quarter of 2023. This represents a 20.1 percent decrease.
For the first quarter of 2024, the total number of registered births in the Philippines was 296,342, while the National Capital Region (NCR) recorded 34,072 births. The City of San Juan accounted for 0.7 percent of the total registered births in NCR during this period. (See Table 1)

Births drop in January and February 2024 but rise in March 2024
The City of San Juan recorded a decrease in registered births during the first two months of 2024. In January, 83 births were recorded, reflecting a 34.1 percent decrease from 126 births in January 2023. In February, 60 births were registered, marking a 34.8 percent drop compared to 92 births in February 2023.
In March 2024, the number of births increased to 108, reflecting a 12.5 percent rise from 96 births in March 2023. (See Table 2)

84 births per month in the first quarter of 2024
The average number of registered births per month in the City of San Juan for the first quarter of 2024 was 84, reflecting a 20.0 percent decrease compared to the average of 105 births per month in the same period of 2023. (See Table 3)

San Juan marriages decrease in the first quarter of 2024
In the first quarter of 2024, the National Capital Region (NCR) recorded a total of 14,285 marriages. Within NCR, the City of San Juan registered 133 marriages, reflecting a 10.1 percent decrease from the 148 marriages recorded during the same period in 2023. These marriages accounted for 0.1 percent of the 99,555 marriages recorded nationwide in the first quarter of 2024. (See Table 4)

March recorded the lowest number of marriages
In January 2024, there were 30 registered marriages, reflecting an 11.1 percent increase from the 27 marriages recorded in January 2023. In February 2024, marriages slightly decreased by 2.2 percent, with 87 recorded compared to 89 in the same month of the previous year. However, March 2024 recorded the most significant decline, with only 16 marriages registered, marking a sharp 50.0 percent drop from the 32 marriages in March 2023. (See Table 5)

44 marriages per month during the first quarter
In the first quarter of 2024, San Juan recorded an average of 44 marriages per month, a 10.2 percent increase compared to the 49 average marriages per month in the first quarter of 2023. (See Table 6)

Death occurrences increased in the first quarter of 2024
In the first quarter of 2024, the total number of deaths recorded in the City of San Juan was 205, compared to 184 in the same period of 2023, reflecting an 11.4 percent increase. San Juan's deaths made up 0.1 percent of the 163,916 total deaths recorded in the Philippines in the first quarter of 2024. Meanwhile, the National Capital Region (NCR) reported 19,895 deaths during the same period. (See Table 7)

68 deaths per month in the first quarter
The average number of deaths per month in the City of San Juan for the first quarter of 2024 was 68, compared to 61 in the same period of 2023. This represents an 11.5 percent increase in the average monthly deaths. (See Table 8)

January recorded the highest number of deaths
In January 2024, the number of deaths increased by 26, representing a 39.4 percent rise compared to January 2023. February 2024, however, saw a decline of 8.6 percent, with 53 recorded deaths compared to 58 in the previous year. Meanwhile, March 2024 recorded 60 deaths, the same number reported in March 2023, indicating no change from the previous year. (See Table 9)
