26 March 2025 – QUEZON CITY. As part of the National Women’s Month Celebration, the Philippine Statistics Authority - National Capital Region (PSA-NCR) hosted a Regional Data Dissemination Forum on Women and Men (WAM) in NCR held at the Conference Room, 9th Floor EDSA Grand Residences, Quezon City. Participants during the activity were representatives from Local Government Units (LGUs) and Regional Line Agencies (RLAs) to discuss the latest gender statistics and their implications for policy and program development.
The forum served as a platform to present key findings from the PSA-NCR Statistical Handbook on WAM, providing comprehensive data on gender disparities in different sectors, including employment, education, health, and social protection, among others, by informing them on the availability of a statistical handbook that can be used for evidence-based insights.
During the event, PSA-NCR Regional Director Paciano B. Dizon said in his opening message: “We believe that data-driven decision-making is crucial in advancing gender equality, and through this forum, we can outline opportunities to better understand the roles, contributions, and challenges faced by women and men in society.
Hence, participants engaged in discussions on the importance of gender statistics in planning and policy formulation, emphasizing the role of localized data in achieving gender equality and addressing gender gaps.
As such, through this activity, PSA-NCR reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving gender data collection and dissemination to support evidence-based policymaking. The agency encourages all stakeholders to utilize the WAM statistical handbook as a valuable resource in promoting gender equality and inclusive progress. The program ended with a closing message from the Chief Statistical Specialist of PSA NCR-Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (PSA NCR-SOCD), Mr. Jing C. Rocabo, who encouraged everyone to share sex disaggregated data that they provide to improve the coverage of WAM for reliable and comprehensive gender statistics in the region.
