06 August 2025 – The Philippine Statistics Authority – National Capital Region Provincial Statistical Office I (PSA NCR PSO I) conducted a visit to the Local Civil Registry (LCR) of Manila to present and discuss the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP), a program designed to provide free and accessible birth registration services to underserved communities.

During the meeting, PSA NCR PSO I Chief Statistical Specialist, Ms. Amelia G. Basilio together with other personnel explained the project’s objectives and implementation strategies, emphasizing its focus on assisting Indigenous Peoples (IPs), Muslim Filipinos, and the poorest residents in the City of Manila who do not have existing birth certificates.

The discussion was attended by the newly appointed Officer-in-Charge of LCR Manila, Atty. Jaime R. Tejero III, who expressed willingness and interest in the initiative and conveyed that the matter will undergo consultation.

While the approval of the Memorandum of Agreement is not yet certain, he affirmed openness to explore ways to work with PSA NCR PSO I to ensure that the project may eventually benefit the city’s most vulnerable populations.

Under this project, the process for late registration and the issuance of a PSA Birth Certificate will be free of charge for qualified beneficiaries.
