The Consumer Expectations Survey (CES) is a household-based survey on the consumers’ assessment of their family income, financial situation, and the economic condition of the country. It is a joint undertaking between the PSA and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and a complementary survey to the Business Expectations Survey (BES) of the latter. The PSA’s responsibility is to undertake the data collection while generation of tables and analysis of the results is done by the BSP.
Specifically, CES gathers data on the demographic and economic characteristics of the consumer/respondent, economic and financial outlook, economic indicators, buying conditions, savings outlook, and debt situation.
The Philippine Statistics Authority-National Capital Region Provincial Statistical Office I (PSA-NCR PSO I) has a total sample of 498 households – 400 in the City of Manila, 49 in the City of Mandaluyong, and 49 in the City of San Juan. Moreover, the office hired 11 Statistical Researchers (SRs) to conduct the personal interviews to the sample households on 01 to 13 July 2022.
PSA-NCR PSO I encourages the public, especially the sample households to show their usual support to the conduct of the 2022 Q3 CES by participating in the survey and providing truthful information to the authorized SRs. Furthermore, the data that will be gathered from this is essential to guide our planners in forecasting the direction of change of the economy as well as the behavior of key indicators such as inflation rate, interest rates and exchange rates.
