QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES- The Philippine Statistics Authority Provincial Statistical Office II or PSA NCR PSO II (covering Quezon City and City of Marikina) conducted the 2023 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Data Collection Training on 17 to 20 and 24 to 27 January 2023. This was attended by eleven (11) CBMS Area Supervisors (CAS) and twenty-nine (29) selected Quezon City LGU employees at the 3rd Floor Community Center Building, Quezon City Hall Compound, Quezon City.
One of the crucial milestones in the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) implementation is the data collection training. PSA NCR PSO II and the Quezon City Planning and Development Office are at the helm of this endeavor.

Head of the Quezon City Planning and Development Office delivered their opening remarks to commence the program.
Forty (40) competent people were trained as a result of the activity, and they underwent arduous training throughout the course of the eight-day lecture regarding general principles, definitions, and technical operations of CBMS. With the assistance of the Community Based Statistics Service of the PSA Central Office, the PSA NCR PSO II trainers have provided a thorough presentation of topics along with hands-on exercises that establish a balance between theoretical and practical application.
The trainers led a simulated interview to assess participants' understanding of the CBMS program using the computer-assisted personal interview (CAPI) and paper-and-pencil interviewing (PAPI) data collection methods. This exercise allowed participants to apply the knowledge and concepts of CBMS.
A field exercise to mimic real-life situations was prepared to further reinforce the trainees' immersion. Barangay Central has been assigned as the field practice area. For the purpose of the field practice, the trainees were split into smaller groups and were tasked to interview an actual household.

In conclusion, the training was a tremendous success, and those who successfully completed it will also act as trainers for the enumerator and team supervisor training that will take place from 13 to 24 February 2023.
