25 June 2024 – Pasay City. The Philippine Statistics Authority National Capital Region- Provincial Statistical Office V (PSA NCR-PSO V) personnel represented by the Chief Statistical Specialist, Ms. Estrella R. Vargas, and Senior Statistical Specialist, Mr. Joemar P. Jerez, joined into the significant activity for the signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the PSA and the Local Government of Parañaque City for the conduct of the 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (2024 POPCEN-CBMS) in the city on 24 May 2024.
Parañaque City Mayor, Hon. Eric L. Olivarez, and the Regional Director (RD) of PSA-NCR, RD Paciano B. Dizon, led the signing of the said MOA which aimed at strengthening collaborations between the two parties towards an equitable development geared from a solid and responsive statistical system in the city. The MOA contained the foundational guidelines of the PSA and the City of Parañaque to create a mutual decisions for a smooth and efficient implementation of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS. In which, the PSA will took the lead to implement the full operation for both censuses to be conducted in the City of Parañaque.
During the activity, Mayor Olivarez mentioned the significant attributes of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS data in the City of Parañaque towards institutionalizing communities for poverty diagnosis, Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) monitoring, effective and efficient planning, budgeting, ecological profiling as well as the basis of each barangay in identifying the proportion for the allocation of National Tax Allotment (NTA) and for determining the population statistics. He also added that the purpose of conducting the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS requires strong participation from the various stakeholders in the city such as the Census Coordinating Board, Liga ng mga Barangay, Homeowners Association (HOA) among others including the lead implementing agency – the PSA.
As a reponse of the PSA, RD Dizon highlighted that the purpose of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS data also includes primary sectoral contributions especially in the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) who will be using the information for updating the social protection program list of beneficiaries in every city. He also extended word of appreciation to the City Government of Parañaque for their full participation and support to the PSA for the conduct of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS in the city.
Thus, the activity ended with a mutual agreement earning the approval and support from both parties, the PSA and the Local Government of Parañaque, which further signifies and acknowledged their full pledged and commitment towards the effective and smooth implementation of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS in the city.
