21 May 2024 – Pasay City. The Philippine Statistics Authority National Capital Region – Provincial Statistical Office V (PSA NCR – PSO V) represented by the Supervising Statistical Specialist (SuSS), Ms. Judie Rhisa G. Baluran together with the Senior Statistical Specialist (SrSS), Mr. Joemar P. Jerez and selected personnel conducted the convening of the 2024 Integrated Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (2024 POPCEN-CBMS) Coordinating Board in the City of Las Piñas on 17 May 2024 at the City Hall Building of the city.
The convening activity was one of the primary considerations of the census coordinating board in order to establish a thorough discussions and to capsulize the overall outlay of plans as well as vital preparations necessary in the conduct of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS in the city. As such, focal person and members of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS coordinating board from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Las Piñas City spearheaded by Engr. Leonida Lagrisola, were present in the event.
Relatively, topics being highlighted and discussed during the activity which was presented by SrSS Jerez of PSA NCR-PSO V includes the background and legal bases, objectives, scope, and coverage, data items and the timeline for the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS in the city. It was recognized that the City of Las Piñas will be utilizing a third-party service provider for the conduct of the 2024 CBMS in which the PSA will also provide technical assistance as deemed necessary by the LGU.
Meanwhile, some considerable concerns between PSA and the LGU of Las Piñas were also tackled during the activity such as the possible training venue for the hired enumerators, information dissemination and coordination with the barangays and Home-Owners Association (HOA), issuance of medical ang health assistance to field personnel in case of emergency, hiring and recruitment of enumerators, and security assistance from the City Police Department whenever need arises.
With these, SuSS Baluran encouraged the focal persons and members of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS coordinating board to extend possible assistance that each can provide for the success on the implementation of the censuses. She also added that the PSA will take its counterpart for the realization of several preparations on the conduct of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS. As a reponse from the LGU, Engr. Lagrisola of the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), ensures that they will take their part and will continuously collaborate with the PSA for a harmonious implementation of the activities related to POPCEN and CBMS.
Thus, the activity ended with a fruitful deliberations and exchange of ideas which signifies a strong foundation to the intricacies on the importance of the POPCEN and CBMS implementation in the city as results will be instrumental to facilitate a more in-depth analysis of poverty and enable better prioritization of needs within the community. In fact, with the data of POCPCEN and CBMS, decision-makers will have access to a wealth of information that can inform policies and interventions aimed at addressing various aspects of poverty and improving the well-being of the community geared towards poverty alleviation and economic development.
