08 May 2024 │The Philippine Statistics Authority-National Capital Region Provincial Statistical Office I (PSA-NCR PSO I) along with the Census-CBMS Coordinating Board (CCCB) of Mandaluyong City convened for the conduct of the 2024 Census of Population and Community Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS) including the discussion on the Cost Estimate for PSA-led CBMS Operational Arrangement and Barangay Profiling at Mandaluyong City Hall. 

Engr. Armando T. Comandao, the City Planning and Development Coordinator of Mandaluyong City, chaired the meeting. Also in attendance were the heads and designated representatives from various Local Government Unit (LGU) offices, representatives from the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police, and other stakeholders, alongside personnel from PSA NCR PSO I.

Ms. Amelia G. Basilio, Chief Statistical Specialist-OIC, of PSA NCR PSO I, delivered the overview and key details about the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS, including the roles and duties of CCCB members and possible assistance from the LGU for the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS operation. Moreover, Mr. James Carsonn S. Siscar, Senior Statistical Specialist of PSA NCR PSO I, discussed the Cost Estimate for the PSA-led CBMS Operational Arrangement. He also gave a brief introduction to the forms utilized for Barangay Profiling.

The Census of Population (POPCEN) is a nationwide government undertaking that is designed to take an inventory of the total population in the Philippines. It involves the collection, evaluation, analysis, and dissemination of data on population count, demographic and socio-economic characteristics, and other relevant data in each barangay, municipality, city, province, and region. Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) entails a census of households and the generation of data at the local level which serves as a basis for targeting beneficiaries for government programs geared towards poverty alleviation and economic development.

PSA NCR PSO I, alongside the CCCB will oversee the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS activities within their designated areas. They will ensure the preparation of essential logistics and fulfill all requirements before and during the execution of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS operations. Additionally, they will address any issues that may arise during the operations within their jurisdiction.
