As provided in Section 6 of the Republic Act No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) shall serve as the central statistical authority of the Philippine government on primary data collection and shall prepare and conduct periodic censuses on population, housing, agriculture, fisheries, business, industry, and other sectors of the economy.
In relation to this, the Philippine Statistics Authority-National Capital Region Provincial Statistical Office I (PSA-NCR PSO I) will be conducting the Labor Force Survey (LFS) for the Second Quarter of 2023 which will gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. This aims to provide information as a basis for the formulation of policies and programs on the creation and generation of gainful employment and livelihood opportunities, reduction of unemployment and underemployment, and enhancement of the welfare of a working person.
Moreover, LFS is designed to provide statistics on levels and trends of employment, unemployment, and underemployment for the country and for each of the administrative regions.
PSA-NCR PSO I hired 14 Statistical Researchers (SRs) to conduct the personal interviews with the 961 sample households – 395 for the City of Manila,
416 for the City of Mandaluyong, and 150 for the City of San Juan on 10 April to 29 2023.
The office encourages the public, specifically the sample households to support and participate in the conduct of this survey. In addition, Section 25 of RA 10625 stipulates that all respondents, whether natural or legal, must provide truthful and complete information to all statistical inquiries or surveys conducted by the PSA.
