The Philippine Statistics Authority-National Capital Region Provincial Statistical Office I (PSA-NCR PSO I) will conduct the January 2022 Labor Force Survey (LFS) and 2021 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) Visit 2 starting on January 10, 2022, in the cities of Manila, Mandaluyong, and San Juan.
The LFS is a nationwide quarterly survey of households conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. It provides information as a basis for the formulation of policies and programs on the creation and generation of gainful employment and livelihood opportunities, reduction of unemployment and underemployment, and enhancement of the welfare of a working person. On the other hand, 2021 FIES is a survey on family income and expenditure of households undertaken by the PSA across the country every three (3) years. It provides data that are necessary for the different aspects of the country’s economic conditions. It is the basic source of information for the measurement of poverty, Human Development Index (HDI), and levels of living of different sections of the population, and disparities in levels of living across geographical regions and socio-economic groups.
The NCR PSO I has a total of 3,330 sample households – 1,542 in the City of Manila, 1,315 in the City of Mandaluyong, and 474 in the City of San Juan - to be enumerated for the January 2022 LFS and 2021 FIES Visit 2. The office hired 5 Assistant Provincial Focal Persons – 2 for Manila, 2 for Mandaluyong, and 1 for San Juan – and 119 Statistical Researchers who will conduct the interviews on the sample households using tablets through the Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) application.
In connection with this, the public is encouraged to show their support to the conduct of these surveys. The sample households which will be the respondents are required to provide truthful and complete information to the statistical researchers during the conduct of personal interviews. PSA personnel are instructed to strictly observe the minimum public health standards to protect themselves and the respondents from the virus in the middle of the health crisis.
