12-14 March 2024 – PSA 23-Storey Building, Quezon City. As part of the Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) activities in 2024, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) conducted a Training-Workshop on Data to Benchmark Accounts.
The three-day activity was organized to capacitate the PPA focal persons from Regional Statistical Services Office and Provincial Statistical Offices in the National Capital Region, a new PPA pilot region in 2024, on the data requirements, and processing of the data for the compilation of PPA benchmark estimates of the highly urbanized cities (HUCs) in the region. New PPA focal persons from the other 16 pilot regions also attended the activity virtually via Zoom conferencing.
Mr. Mark C. Pascasio, Officer-in-Charge, Assistant National Statistician of the Macroeconomic Accounts Service (MAS) of PSA, highlighted the importance of the compilation of the PPA and the role of everyone in the popularization of PPA nationwide. He called for the continued support and cooperation of the participants, acknowledging the lengthy process ahead in completing the PPA compilation in all provinces and HUCs in the Philippines.
The activity, which was facilitated by the Subnational Economic Accounts Division of MAS, was done as part of the series of undertakings of the PSA towards the institutionalization of the PPA by 2025.
