QUEZON CITY, PHILIPPINES –The Philippine Statistics Authority Provincial Office II (covering Quezon City and City of Marikina) conducted two (2) batches of third level training for the 2021 July Labor Force Survey (LFS) and 2021 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) visit 1 which consist of two (2) classes per batch and were scheduled last June 21 to June 26, 2021 and June 28 to July 3, 2021. Venues for trainings were in NCR PO II Training Room 1 and in RSSO NCR Conference Room, 8/F and 9/F EDSA Grand Residences 75 Corregidor St. cor. EDSA Brgy. Ramon Magsaysay, Quezon City for Class 1 and 2, respectively.
The LFS aims to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population towards the estimation of the levels of employment and unemployment in the country. The FIES is a rider survey to the LFS. It is one of the major household-based surveys undertaken by the PSA conducted every three years of two separate visits as source in the estimation of poverty incidence.
This 2021 FIES first visit will be able to capture the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on the expenditure pattern of families with the adoption of the 2020 Philippine Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose (PCOICOP) as well as its effect on the income and its sources. The 2021 FIES will use the Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) application for the first time.
The 2021 FIES First Visit covers data for the period of January to June 2021 which will be collected from the randomly selected household samples. The PSA NCR PO II has 1,982 sample households in Quezon City and 1,979 sample households in the City of Marikina. A total of 11 Team Supervisors and 102 Statistical Researchers were trained on the concepts and definition about the LFS and FIES forms. They were observed by trainers in a mock interview during the last day of training to assess the knowledge of trainees and their readiness for the survey using CAPI.
The enumeration period for the 2021 July LFS and 2021 FIES will be on 08 July 2021 to 31 July 2021.
